P2/3 Blog 5

Christmas has arrived in Primary 2/3! We have been very busy getting ready for Christmas and rounding off our learning for the term! Have a look below to see what we have been doing!

This week Primary 2/3 had filled the prize jar up to the first level! Reward 1 was a movie with crisps and popcorn! We watched the Minion Movie and had popcorn and crisps! Primary 2/3 have had a fab few weeks to get this reward! The next one we are aiming to achieve is extra playtime outside!

We were very lucky to receive some money from the Parent Council to make Christmas crafts! We are going to sell them at the Nativity! We are making marshmallow snowmen and reindeer Christmas cards!

Our elf Jim was very mischievous this week! He nabbed Miss Hampson’s stickers and got in a bit of a pickle!!

Last Wednesday we got to watch a panto in the assembly hall! It was very funny and made us all laugh!

Our elf Jim brought a Christmas tree and he left us some baubles out so we could help decorate it!

Doing our handprints for our reindeer cards!

The Parent Council organised a fab treat for us last week! Real reindeers came to visit Edinbarnet! All of the children got to get really close to the reindeers and even give them a pat!

During all of Christmas festivities we still had all of our usual learning going on! Here we are practising our phonic sounds!

Check back here in 2 weeks time for our final blog before Christmas!

P2/3 Blog 4

It has been a busy fortnight for P2/3 - from Weather Hunts and Football to Children in Need and new reading books! Have a look below to see what we have been doing since our last post!

As part of our Weather STEM Topic we did a Weather hunt in and around the school grounds! We learned all about the seasons and different kinds of weather! We found lots of things to tell us it was Autumn such as red and brown leaves! We noticed that the ground was wet which meant it must have been raining, there were lots of clouds in the sky and the leaves were blowing about meaning it was windy!

Recently we have been learning lots of new songs for the nativity, one of our fab pupils made a stable at home in her own time! Inside it has Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus.

Team shot - Pyjama Day!

Team Pudsey!

Matching PJs!

Team Pudsey!

4 little Spider-Men!

Last week was our first Word Aware Celebration! One child from each class was presented with a certificate for using their Word or the Week in class!

Wrapped up for our Weather Hunt!

We analysed our Weather Hunt results and we had all drawn the same conclusion - it was a cold and windy autumn day and had been raining in the morning!

Kieran has joined us again for our next round of football! This week we focused on ball skills and are now ready to play a game!

Check back here in 2 weeks time to keep following our learning story!

P3- 10/11/17

 Primary 3
10/11/17

Primary 3 have been very very busy!

As a Maths Challenge we did some tricky Place Value Code Crackers. All of the children really enjoyed this, even though it was hard at first!

For maths we also love playing Score Out. It can get a bit competitive but we are also learning to be good sports.
Spelling has been super fun this week- we have been using play-dough and magnets .
For reading, as well as reading with Miss Mckenzie and Mrs Sharman we have been doing some paired reading with friends from our group.

P2/3 Blog 3!

P2/3 have welcomed Term 2 the way we welcome all new terms - busily!! Miss Hampson thought our brains might have emptied after the October Break but we sure proved her wrong! So after a quick revision of some Term 1 learning we are ready to move on! Have a look below to see what we have been up to!

This week P2/3 did Halloween Franken-style! We learned all about Dr Frankenstein and the creature he created! We even made our own version of Frankenstein the monster!

This week we continued to practise our number bonds to 20! We now know them by heart and are practising doing them as fast as we can! This week we used the number bonds to 20 Games, the magnetic numbers and our busy books!

Over the next week or 2 our Viking Topic is coming to an end ready for us to start a new topic! We wanted to end the topic on an art lesson so here we are creating a background for our Viking Voyage Paintings! We can’t wait to show you the finished product!

We have been getting a new homework grid for the past few weeks that involves lots of active activities, one of the activities we can choose to do is creating something related to our topic! Miss Hampson was so impressed with these boys and girls this week! They worked very hard at home with their families to make Viking Shields, helmets and spears! They presented these to the class and explained to the other boys and girls how they made them!
