Mummies

This week P4a have been learning how the Ancient Egyptians prepared their dead for the afterlife.
We explored this ourselves by mummifying an orange!

First, Mrs Bartoletti made a cut in the orange. Then, the children worked in pairs to scoop out the inside of the orange. Next, we filled our orange with a mixture of salt and bicarbonate of soda. After that, we used a bandage to wrap it up. Finally, we left it in a warm dry place and we will check on it in 3 weeks time. I wonder what will have happened to it?
