P2/3 Blog 3!

P2/3 have welcomed Term 2 the way we welcome all new terms - busily!! Miss Hampson thought our brains might have emptied after the October Break but we sure proved her wrong! So after a quick revision of some Term 1 learning we are ready to move on! Have a look below to see what we have been up to!

This week P2/3 did Halloween Franken-style! We learned all about Dr Frankenstein and the creature he created! We even made our own version of Frankenstein the monster!

This week we continued to practise our number bonds to 20! We now know them by heart and are practising doing them as fast as we can! This week we used the number bonds to 20 Games, the magnetic numbers and our busy books!

Over the next week or 2 our Viking Topic is coming to an end ready for us to start a new topic! We wanted to end the topic on an art lesson so here we are creating a background for our Viking Voyage Paintings! We can’t wait to show you the finished product!

We have been getting a new homework grid for the past few weeks that involves lots of active activities, one of the activities we can choose to do is creating something related to our topic! Miss Hampson was so impressed with these boys and girls this week! They worked very hard at home with their families to make Viking Shields, helmets and spears! They presented these to the class and explained to the other boys and girls how they made them!

P2 Blog 2- 6.10.17

6th October 2017
Primary three have been learning lots about Vikings. So far we have learned about: Viking homelands, Viking settlements, Viking food, Vikings raids, the different reasons Vikings invaded other countries, Viking longhouses and lots of other things too! We have also been doing a daily mile so that we eventually as a class have ran 500 miles to Scandinavia where the Vikings came from, so far we have ran 100 miles.

As well as the Vikings we have been learning lots in PE. We have had a focus on football and have been working in stations on the skills we have learned. We have learned how to dribble, pass, shoot and travelling with the ball. We still need to work a little on our defence. We have also linked our learning in class to our learning in PE. We have played a really fun connectives game in gym where we have to listen to a sentence and run to the best connective to create a longer more interesting sentence.

In maths we have mastered how to round not only to the nearest ten but also to the nearest hundred! We have also done lots of work on partitioning, place value and repeated addition. P3 also want you to know how good they have gotten at Fact Families in maths!

Well done P3 you have all worked super hard! We are now really looking forward to parents night to share our work with our families.
