P2b have had a busy February!

Primary 2b have had a busy February and March! We have learned about sound and how it travels. We made our own paper cup telephones and we could talk to each other through them.

Bricks and blocks:
Our goalkeeper robots

We made a computer programme.

Using the computer to make instructions for our robot
We were also lucky to be involved in a workshop where we got to make our own computer programmes! We constructed robots from lego and then made programme instructions on the computer to make it move and save some goals!  We had lots of fun!

Teddybear hospital:
Our favourite and most loved teddy bears got some special treatment this week when we had a special visit from the dentists and doctors who look after us. They diagnosed our teddy and helped them to get better with their very own 'pawscription'!

World book day:

The day that Edinbarnet turned into Fairyland! We all dressed up as our favourite characters from fairytales and spent the day doing lots of reading! We got to visit the library to hear some stories! Our favourite was 'We're going on a bear hunt'. We also had Primary 5 come and help us read some of our favourite books which was fun!

Fairyland:

We have been working hard over the last few weeks to help save fairyland. We helped the three little pigs with their problem with the big bad wolf. We made them new houses that could not be blown down and helped to catch the big bad wolf! We have now been asked by the friendly dragon to help the three bears as they have a problem with a girl eating all their porridge! We have made new bowls for baby bear and made some new porridge for the bears!
A new home for the three little pigs.

Some of us didn't like the porridge very much!

Primary 2b

Primary 2b have been very busy since returning from the Christmas Holidays. We have started to learn about multiplication in maths and we are learning lots of new sounds in Phonics. We have also been discovering new and interesting things about our planet and the people who live in it. Here are some of our favourite things we have been learning about:

Clarice Cliff:

We have been learning about a famous artist from the past called Clarice Cliff and we have all become budding artists in Edinbarnet too. We have made our own vases and plates which we have painted in bright colours and shapes like Clarice. We also made our own pots from Saltdough. We thought this was great fun - although a little messy!! We can’t wait to tell the rest of the school about it all in our assembly next week.

Chinese New Year:
We have been learning that this is the year of the rooster. Chinese New year is a special celebration that happens in February and we made our own Chinese dragons to help celebrate. We used the colour red as this is a lucky colour in China. Our favourite thing we discovered was that years ago in China they would let off fireworks to scare off monsters.

Forces:

We have been learning lots of science and about forces around us. We have learned about pushes and pulls and how they can make objects around us stop or move. We liked learning about gravity too and how it keeps us on the ground on earth!

Robert Burns:

We had a special day on January 25th where we celebrated Robert Burns, a famous poet. We listened to some of his songs and poems and learned about his life. We also designed our own special tartan kilts!

A Dragon comes to Edinbarnet:

Lastly, We have had a very exciting week, a dragon came to visit our class! He was a bit too big thought and made a little bit of a mess of our classroom. He has asked for our help by reading more fairytales to try and save fairyland. We can’t wait to get started and help him! We have already written letters to say we will accept the challenge and start by helping  the three little pigs from losing their homes.

Stay tuned for what happens next ...

The Day a Dragon Visited

During the past few weeks P2 had a Friendly Dragon visit them! This Friendly Dragon delivered some bad news - Fairyland is falling apart and he needs the help of P2 to build it back up again! He is sending a fairy to P2 each week as he is too big to visit all the time and she is going to leave us jobs and tasks to help rebuild fairyland! One of the main things we need to go while we wait on each fairymail is to study fairytales and learn as much as we can about Fairyland! Testing to see if our houses could be blown down by the big bad wolf!  Making new straw, wood and brick houses for the three little pigs!  Friendly Dragon delivered us a Fairymail box so we can receive our tasks from Fairy!  Looks like the big bad wolf came to P2!!  STEM Aside from being very busy helping our Friendly Dragon we have also been putting our STEM Hub to good use! We have been carrying out a series of experiments! This week we wanted to find out what happened when we put skittles in water!  We learned that the warm water dissolves the sugary shell on the skittles causing the colour to move into the water and make a rainbow pattern!
