Primary 2b have been very busy since returning from the Christmas Holidays. We have started to learn about multiplication in maths and we are learning lots of new sounds in Phonics. We have also been discovering new and interesting things about our planet and the people who live in it. Here are some of our favourite things we have been learning about:
Clarice Cliff:
We have been learning about a famous artist from the past called Clarice Cliff and we have all become budding artists in Edinbarnet too. We have made our own vases and plates which we have painted in bright colours and shapes like Clarice. We also made our own pots from Saltdough. We thought this was great fun - although a little messy!! We can’t wait to tell the rest of the school about it all in our assembly next week.
Chinese New Year:
We have been learning that this is the year of the rooster. Chinese New year is a special celebration that happens in February and we made our own Chinese dragons to help celebrate. We used the colour red as this is a lucky colour in China. Our favourite thing we discovered was that years ago in China they would let off fireworks to scare off monsters.
Forces:
We have been learning lots of science and about forces around us. We have learned about pushes and pulls and how they can make objects around us stop or move. We liked learning about gravity too and how it keeps us on the ground on earth!
Robert Burns:
We had a special day on January 25th where we celebrated Robert Burns, a famous poet. We listened to some of his songs and poems and learned about his life. We also designed our own special tartan kilts!
A Dragon comes to Edinbarnet:
Lastly, We have had a very exciting week, a dragon came to visit our class! He was a bit too big thought and made a little bit of a mess of our classroom. He has asked for our help by reading more fairytales to try and save fairyland. We can’t wait to get started and help him! We have already written letters to say we will accept the challenge and start by helping the three little pigs from losing their homes.
Stay tuned for what happens next ...
