Last Term in P2!
Believe it or not it is our last term in P2 already! We will be in Primary 3 before we know it! As always - we have been very busy! No rest for the wicked as they say!
In class we have been learning all about Scotland. We discovered lots about Scottish traditions and landmarks. We had a Scottish food tasting where we got to try haggis, neeps and tatties, stovies and tablet ice cream! Some of us didn’t like some things but we still tried them! We then did a comparison with Africa and Antarctica. We learned the similarities and differences between the countries. We also enjoyed telling everyone at assembly what we had been learning!
We didn't like some of the foods but we still tried them!
Trying some Scottish foods and filling in our senses sheet!
Recreating some African sunsets!
Making some igloos using mosaic and brick patterns!
Creating a Scottish background! We made sure to include some key features of Scottish landscapes such as trees, mountains, grass and lots of greenery!
We displayed our learning in lots of ways! We made African Sunday, Antarctican igloos and Scottish highland coos! We also replicated the Scottish flag, wrote fact files and poems and made leaflets!
We then got to display all of this work at our class assembly and tell the rest of the school all about our learning!
In Maths, we have been learning all about directions! We gave directions to Pirates and learned to use different words to direct and follow a path. We went outside and used lots of different words such as left, right, forward, turn, around and backwards!
Giving and following directions!
This week we also got to do a Stem challenge. We chose what experiment we could do! We picked the floating and sinking experiment. We experimented with lots of classroom objects to see what happened when we put them in water. First we predicted what would happen to each one. We learned that wooden and plastic objects float and metal objects sink.
Our bottle floated!
Keeping a record!
Will it float or will it sink?!
Keeping a wee eye!
More from P2a and b in the next couple of weeks!
